Bunkhouse
Nestled on a rock outcropping in a small bay in Southeast Alaska this replacement housing facility is a significant upgrade from pipeline era Atco structures.
The need for housing at this seasonal logging location gave the owner an opportunity to provide updated, comfortable housing while envisioning an alternative use. Since this alternative use will involve private clientele it made sense to realize a few upgrades over typical logging operations housing. The addition of a masonry heater, located centrally in the main living area will also be the primary heat source. All of the wood construction materials are intended to be sourced from a local lumber mill.
I dedicate this design to Judy Mason.
