Glacier Highway Residence
Tucked into a niche along the eastern edge of a small valley the site has limited access to a southerly exposure. Additionally harsh winter winds coming from the north helped define, and create opportunities to orient the homes massing in order to maximize a westerly natural light, while minimizing the impact of the north winds and deposition of snow and rain from the metal roofs.
This elevated 1,700 square foot energy efficient residence avoids the seasonal overflow originating from the National Forest behind the property while only using about half the heating oil as current community average.
